Chicago man charged in fatal shooting of 9-year-old girl in April during family confirmation party on Southwest Side

A Chicago man has been charged with fatally shooting a 9-year-old girl during a family confirmation ceremony in April on the city’s Southwest Side. Octaviano Romero, 39, of Chicago has been charged with one felony count of first-degree murder and 10 felony counts of attempted murder for the shooting deaths of 9-year-old Ariana Molina and 10 others, including several children, on April 13 in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.
