Timing out a few downpours to end the week

This time last week we were discussing a heat index around 110° and severe weather. This week, we’ll be talking about a decent cold front late Thursday and early Friday morning. Temperatures will be warming into the middle 80s on Wednesday to the upper 80s Thursday. Rain chances during this period will stay low. The cold front is expected to come through early Friday morning and bring temperatures into the 70s and 60s this weekend. The severe weather chances remain low with this frontal passage Friday morning but the effects will be felt for Notre Dame’s home opener. Saturday afternoon will struggle to get to 70 degrees and the wind chill, yes wind chill will be in the 50s for the day. Sunday morning will be the coolest in quite a while as temperatures fall to the 40s.

WEDNESDAY: Warmer by the afternoon with a mostly sunny sky. High 84F. Low 56F. Wind SE at 5 to 10 mph.

THURSDAY: Increasing clouds in the afternoon and evening. any shower will wait to arrive until Friday morning. High near 88F and becoming slightly humid. Low 64F. Wind SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

FRIDAY: Cold front arrives, This will bring scattered showers throughout the day. Some lightning and rumbles of thunder are possible. Around a quarter to a half an inch of rain is possible. No severe weather. Most go dry for local high school football games. High 74F. Low 52F. Wind NW at 10 to 20 mph.

SATURDAY: It will certainly feel like fall football weather in Michiana. In fact, it will feel more like a mid-October day! Few showers around. Very hit-and-miss throughout the day. Most of the Notre Dame home football game will be dry, but a quick passing shower is possible. Tailgaters will need to plan for a few showers around throughout the first half of the day. Windy & chilly. High around 65F, but it will feel like the upper 50s due to the gusty wind. Low 44F. Wind NW at 15 to 30 mph.

SUNDAY: A mix of clouds and sun. Intervals of clouds and sunshine. High 68F. Low 46F. Wind WNW at 10 to 15 mph.
