One person dies in collision between tractor and delivery van

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (FOX26) — A man driving a tractor was killed in a tragic accident that occurred Monday near Selma.

The Fresno Area CHP reported that at 8:15 p.m. Monday evening, they received a report of a crash involving a tractor-trailer and a semi-truck on Floral Avenue west of Temperance Avenue.

Officers and rescuers arrived at the scene.

Initial reports indicate an adult male was driving a tractor-trailer eastbound on Floral Street toward Temperance.

The tractor had its rear lights on.

A Toyota Tacoma driven by an adult male was traveling east on Floral Street approaching the rear of the tractor.

The CHP says the driver of the Toyota did not see the tractor early enough and hit it from behind.

The force of the impact threw the man driving the tractor onto the side of the road, causing serious injuries.

The tractor driver was taken to hospital, where he died.

The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated with investigators.

The CHP says alcohol or drug use is not suspected to be a risk factor.

The investigation is ongoing.
