An American woman wanted in the United States for murdering her two children and attempting to kill a third child denied the charges in a London court on Wednesday as she fought to be extradited to the U.S.

Kimberlee Singler, 36, is facing seven charges in Colorado, including the first-degree murder of her nine-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son in December 2023.

Prosecutors say Singler killed her two children by shooting them in the head and stabbing them in the neck in their home while her ex-partner was engaged in a long custody battle.

Singler was also accused of trying to kill her third child, a girl who was 11 at the time.

“Mrs Singler denies responsibility for the deaths of her two younger children and denies responsibility for the attempted murder of her surviving child,” her lawyer Edward Fitzgerald told Westminster District Court.

The woman is challenging her extradition, arguing that if convicted, she faces a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, which her lawyers say is a violation of her human rights.

Joel Smith, a lawyer representing U.S. prosecutors, said Singler’s surviving child told police, “The defendant said God told her to do it and that the father of the child would take the child.”

Singler “initially blamed an unknown male and cast suspicion on her former partner,” Smith said. “That can be proven false,” he added.

However, Fitzgerald said Singler “was concerned that the statement made against her by her surviving child was not voluntary.”

Singler sat in the dock and took notes throughout the hearing, which will continue Thursday.
