19-year-old struck and killed by crane in Little River | Myrtle Beach News

LITTLE RIVER — Authorities said a 19-year-old man was killed this week when a crane struck him at a construction site in Little River.

Anibal Sanchez Pelayo of Galivants Ferry died Sept. 3 from multiple injuries, according to a news release from the Horry County Coroner’s Office.

The accident happened shortly before 2 p.m. when a crane collapsed onto a building on Cambria Court, according to a social media post by Horry County Fire Rescue. Pelayo died at the scene.

No details were given about the cause of the crane collapse.

The Horry County Police Department and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are investigating the incident.
