CARIBOU, Maine (WAGM) – The Caribou Police Department reported a single-vehicle accident on High Street today. At approximately 11:40 a.m., a Chevy pickup truck struck a telephone pole. There was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash. No one was seriously injured, but the passenger suffered a laceration to her eye. The truck was towed. The telephone pole broke, causing a loss of power to the town hall before the backup generator kicked in. A Versant responded to the scene to restore power to areas that may have been lost. Caribou Police officials say the crash was caused by driver distraction.
